Checking the EOIR status in English refers to verifying the status of animmigration case with the Executive Office for Immigration Review(EOIR), which is the branch of the U.S. Department of Justice thatoversees immigration courts.

Why check the EOIR status? - It is checked to:

  • See the date and time of the next immigration court hearing.

  • Confirm whether a case is active or closed.

  • Find out if a final decision has been made by the immigration judge.

  • Check the status of a deportation or asylum case, among others.

How is it checked? – Go to “EOIR Automated Case Information System”

And it can be accessed in two ways:

  1. By phone: Calling 1-800-898-7180. 2. Online: On the EOIR officialwebsite: https://acis.eoir.justice.gov/en/

You only need the A-number (Alien Number), which starts with the letter Afollowed by 8 or 9 digits (example: A123 456 789).

Additionally, all aliens in the United States must report a changeof address to USCIS within 10 days of moving. This reportingrequirement does not apply to A and G visa holders and visawaiver visitors.

We strongly encourage you to submit your change of addressthrough a USCIS online account as soon as you move.

Using an online account to update your address in a timely waymeets the legal requirement to notify us that you have moved. Italso ensures that your case will continue processing withoutinterruption and that you receive all correspondence and benefitswithout delay.

You also may file a paper Form AR-11 by mail to change youraddress. This meets the legal requirement to notify USCIS of achange of address. However, because filing a paper-based FormAR-11 does not provide for an automated update to your addressin USCIS  systems, we strongly encourage requestors to use  theself-service change of address tool available in their USCIS onlineaccount when reporting a change of address.
